History
=======
Present day Brunswick County was part of earlier counties, as follows:

Isle of Wight Co. formed in 1634
Surry Co. formed in 1652
Prince George Co. formed in 1702
Brunswick co. formed in 1720 from Prince George, Isle of Wight, and Surry Cos.
Lunenburg formed out of Brunswick in 1746
Mecklenburg from Lunenburg in 1764/5
Greensville formed out of Brunswick in 1780

Because initial population density was so low, there was no local government in the
county until the 1730's

Parcels in yellow have large errors.  
Parcels in gray have watercourse markings that are helpful to placement
Parcels in other colors represent well placed neighborhoods of interconnected
parcels based on neighbors named in the patent and supporting evidence such as
watercourses.  Darker parcels in a neighborhood are "anchors" that can be
tied to a parcticular spot.
