Joshua Poythress (1784 – aft. 1854), son of William Poythress and Mary Gilliam, 6th generation.

Joshua Poythress, son of William Poythress (1753-1794) and Mary Gilliam, married Jane Mills Angus (1783-). They had a daughter named Nancy G. D. (1814-) who married Robert Carter Harrison, who was the son of Collier Harrison, who married Beersheba Bryant before she married Thomas Eppes Poythress (1785-1847). Nancy G. D. Poythress married as her 2nd husband John Crane. Joshua and Jane lived in Dinwiddie Co. in 1820 and in Prince George County from 1830 to 1850. Joshua was the grandson of Joshua Poythress (II) and Mary Short.
