From one microfiche, Call Number 6038404 held at Salt Lake City, Utah’s FAMILY HISTORY LIBRARY [“FHL”]

Flora B. Dotson’s Poythress-related research was typed on 37 pages in about 1987 – 1988, in the below series of articles, listed here in the order in which they were compiled, plus her Index to all these articles at the end:

The microfiche was created at the FHL in September 1997. It contains the above 37 typewritten leaves earlier donated by Flora B. Dotson, and three preliminary pages: regarding the material’s filming in 1997; Dotson’s donation of the material by 29 March 1989 when she authorized its filming and use in the FHL system; and Dotson’s Permissions granted August 28, 1996 for her material’s use.  In her 1996 Permission form, Dotson gave permission for ALL works she had created or would create, which the FHL then had or would have in their collection, and she specifically authorized transfer of image copies to other organizations or individuals without FHL’s written permission.   

Dotson’s 37 typewritten pages of material were initially available for years at the FHL, under Call Number 929.273 A1 no. 5816, bound in a book in the section for individuals’ donated research material.  Sometime prior to September 2022 those items were moved offsite.  However, the microfiche of her work is still available to patrons who visit the FHL in person.  The computer terminals in the FHL’s FICHE section easily enable patrons to not only view each image on a fiche, such as Dotson’s [Call Number 6038404], but to also download copies of desired images to a personal USB-drive.

Flora Belnap Dotson lived 94 years, from October 24, 1910 to December 3, 2004; on February 10, 1932 she married Carl Christopher Dotson. That information is engraved on their double grave-marker, of which FindAGrave has a photo, at Groveland Cemetery, in Blackfoot, Bingham County, Idaho.  Her obituary was published the Provo [UT] Daily Herald, on January 4-5, 2005. It is viewable at Legacy.com and covers her extensive volunteer work; her love of genealogy work; and mentions of some publications where her work appeared.
